New Radar Flow Sensor

General Acoustics has recently developed a Doppler Radar Surface Flow Sensor for continuous level measurement of water surface flow and also for measurements of directional surface flow.

The sensor is suitable for applications in rivers, coastal areas and offshore platforms. The 1st offshore platform deployment of the sensor for measurements of directional surface flow was successfully completed last June in the German North Sea.

Advantages:

  • Remote Sensing: higher reliability and efficiency of current measurements offshore, lower costs (deployment, operation, maintenance).

  • Easily combined with LOG_aLevel or ULS Advanced Field for Sea State measurements.

  • Economical : alternative to ADCP, with the additional benefit of easier deployment and easier operation (including data processing).
